Professional ski & snowboard bootfitting at Bluebird Mountain Sports
We provide expert bootfitting, custom footbeds, fit consultations, and liner heat molding at our Angel Fire, Santa Fe, Salida, and Taos Ski Valley shops.
Our local team will help you select the right new boots or fine-tune a pair you already own. Painful pressure points, numbness, heel lift, or toe pinching shouldn't cut short a great day on the mountain.
You don’t even need to diagnose the issue before booking. Our bootfitters will evaluate your feet and equipment, then clearly explain the best options for your ride.
Do you have new boots that need a fitting? Choose a new-boot appointment. For help with your current pair, start with a consultation.
We’ll ask how and where you ride, we will measure your feet, and help you compare boots suited to your needs.
Good for: First-time buyers, customers replacing worn boots, and riders moving beyond rentals.
Pricing: Depends on the boot and any additional services.
A custom footbed supports your foot, helping distribute pressure and reduce unwanted movement inside the boot.
Good for: Foot fatigue, cramping, inconsistent support, or a fit tailored more closely to your feet.

Bring boots purchased from Bluebird Mountain Sports or elsewhere. We will check the fit, ask what you notice on snow, and walk you through what may help.
Good for: Pressure points, heel movement, toe contact, packed-out liners, or boots that feel insecure.

Heat molding helps a compatible liner conform to your foot and lower leg. We check the boot first because molding cannot correct every sizing problem.
Good for: Creating a closer initial fit in compatible new or replacement liners.
Pricing: Included with Bluebird Mountain Sports-purchased boot. $50 for boots purchased elsewhere.

You can expect a personalized process that’s built around your feet, your gear, and riding style
Your bootfitter will ask about your ability level, preferred terrain, riding style, and any foot discomfort or pressure points you have experienced on snow.
They will measure your feet, evaluate your stance, and check your arch height. If you bring your own boots, they’ll check how your feet sit inside your boot shells.
Your bootfitter will compare any new boot options that are tailored to your foot shape. If you have a current pair of boots, they’ll review any targeted adjustments, like custom footbeds, shell work, or liner heat molding.
You’ll try the boots back on to test the fit and your stance. Your bootfitter will tell you what to expect as you break in your liners on the mountain, and they’ll tell you when to stop back in for follow-up fine-tuning.
- The thin ski or snowboard socks you normally wear on snow (avoid thick cotton socks)
- Your current boots and liners (if you want us to evaluate and make recommendations for your existing setup)
- Any custom footbeds, insoles, or orthotics you currently use
- Your skis or snowboard (if you also need any binding adjustments or tuning services)
Expert advice, honest recommendations, and zero pressure
We evaluate your foot shape, ability level, preferred terrain, and comfort goals, before recommending any boot or service.
Schedule a consultation for boots purchased at Bluebird Mountain Sports or any other shop. We are happy to evaluate and adjust your existing setup.
Every new boot purchased with a custom footbed includes two years of necessary liner and shell modifications to keep your fit dialed.
Consider a bootfitting consultation if you experience any of these issues on the mountain:
- Painful pressure points, rubbing, or hotspots around your feet, ankles, or shins.
- Heel lift or slipping that reduces your control on snow
- Toes repeatedly jamming against the front of your boot during turns
- Numbness, tingling, or unusually cold toes while riding
- A packed-out liner that feels loose or insecure inside the boot shell
- Uncertainty about whether your boot size, width, or flex matches your riding style
Similar problems can stem from different fit issues, so our fitters will help identify the root cause, and recommend the right solution for you and your setup.
